Glazes are applied with multiple meshes, when one glaze overlays another, new colours and contours emerge. The tile is then placed into a kiln and fired, where the glazes colour will change substantially.
Liquid clay is hand piped by an expert craftsperson onto each tile to produce a raised line which works as a relief. Areas between the lines can then be painted with coloured glazes. The tile is then placed into a kiln and fired, where the glazes colour will change substantially.
Our custom ceramics are made at Jackfield Tile Works in Ironbridge, Shropshire, it’s the oldest surviving purpose built tile factory in the world dating back to 1872.
